Fantastic Four (1): Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, Thing, H.E.R.B.I.E.
Ultimates (3): Blue Marvel, Black Panther, Miss America, Captain Marvel, Galactus
“Fascinating.” Reed Richards is holding a small instrument, that he quickly tucks into the back H.E.R.B.I.E.’s head. “The energy readings influencing these happenings is far exceeding any known thresholds of the Psycho Man’s limits. He’s either engaged in extreme internal metamorphosis, or he’s utilizing a hyperdimensional source.”
“English, egghead.” The Thing gruffly rolls his eyes.
The Invisible Woman interjects,”Psycho Man isn’t in charge, he’s basically a babysitter. Maybe even just a host. He may be just as much a pawn in this game as we are.”
“At least we know all ’a these yahoos.” The Thing points over to the Ultimates. “Not that it’s gonna make ‘em any easier ta beat.”
“It looks like Galactus is above it, at least we don’t have to fight him.” Johnny Storm optimistically points out.
“Indeed…” Mister Fantastic strokes his chin, accidentally pulling it down into a point.
Across the way, the Ultimates are holding a similar conversation, “The Fantastic Four.” T’Challa states plainly. “I got the jump on them once, but they’ve made it to this point for a reason.”
“Yeah, because those fogies haven’t fought us yet!” America Chavez smirks.
The Blue Marvel looks down at her with his stern brown eyes.
“You know they’re pretty much our age, right?” Captain Marvel raises an eyebrow.
Changing the topic quickly, America kicks the giant foot of Galactus, “Think we can get anything out of the big guy?” Galactus rolls his colossal chin down to see his teammates. He turns his head back and looks out stoically. “Guess not.”
“The only way to beat the Fantastic Four is to be quick, and precise. Carol, you will have to take on the Human Torch, hopefully he forgets about your ability to absorb energy, and he will supercharge you, get you to Binary levels. Ms. America, you will have to occupy the Thing. Do NOT underestimate him. He looks big and slow, but I assure you, he is a more than adept fighter. I will restrain Reed.” He looks over to Blue Marvel. “You have the most difficult job, my friend.”
“I hardly think I’ll have much trouble with the Invisible Woman. I’d be glad to help take out the Thing or the Torch too.” The Blue Marvel argues.
“No, I assure you, the outcome of this battle rests on your ability to prevent Susan from helping her family. The fate of Fantastic Four lives and dies with the Invisible Woman.” The Black Panther’s strategy meeting is cut a moment short, as he witnesses Mister Fantastic soaring overhead, dragging along behind H.E.R.B.I.E. the robot, towards Galactus.
“I’ll get h…” Blue Marvel starts in.
“No, he is mine.” Black Panther begins climbing up the titanic leg and looks back, “You three, GO!”
Begrudgingly the Blue Marvel streaks off, his teammates in tow.
“Aw shucks, looks like this party’s about to start!” Ben Grimm cracks his knuckles and braces for the Blue Marvel. He’s momentarily surprised when the Man of Marvels flies past him. He turns back to warn his friend, “Susie! I think he’s gunnin’ for you!”
“Shields up…” The Invisible Woman forms up an invisible force field around herself and turns invisible. As the Blue Marvel rockets in, she’s able to move, unnoticed, as the Blue Marvel smashes into the ground where she once stood.
He gets up through the pile of rubble. “You cannot hide from me Susan Storm-Richards.” I don’t have to see you to know where you are. I can read the trail of your powers.” He abruptly turns his body, following his senses. He unleashes an energy pulse and watches as it rolls over her force field bubble. He concentrates a concussive blast into it and watches it glance off the side. The bubble keeps moving. He starts to emit a low level pulse, like radar, to see where she is and track her. He takes off towards the middle, hoping to smash through and, like the Panther suggested, end things quickly.
The Invisible Woman is smart. She’s not just the only woman who could really love and appreciate Reed. She’s probably the only person in the Universe that he doesn’t bore some times. She knows the Blue Marvel, and his abilities, and that he’d likely eventually beat her. But, he also knows that Reed Richards is one of the most, if not the single most, intelligent man in the entire multiverse. And that if he thinks his plan will work, it will work. And that to make it work. She, her brother, and Ben, need to tie up the Ultimates and buy him some time.
She feels his energy probes bouncing against her force fields. She feels the pressure of his blasts slamming against them. When she sees him taking a charge for a physical attack, she knows that she’s done her job. She remembers the judo classes she took oh so long ago from an older man with a mustache, who she could swear tried to crash her wedding. She curls her force fields into a chute and uses the Blue Marvel’s own momentum against him. As he barrels down, she adjusts the curvature angling him up, and away. As he tries to turn back down, she slides it around. In an ever moving force trap, specifically designed to use the Blue Marvel’s own strength to push himself away everytime he moves. It won’t last forever, but it might last just long enough.
As the Thing looks back, worrying whether or not Sue will be able to handle the Blue Marvel, he remembers that there isn’t time to play favorites, and turns back to the battle. CRACK! He’s immediately surprised as he’s clocked in the chin by a rampaging Ms America.
“I told them you wouldn’t be so tough!” She moves in to punch again. “I also knew you’d be slow.”
Whap. Her fist stops cold in it’s tracks as the Thing grabs it mid push. “Come on girly, don’tchu know you’re fightin’ the Ever Lovin’ Blue Eyed Thing?” He pulls her arm and tosses her aside then looks over to the Human Torch. “Remember torchie, yer fire only makes her stronger.”
“Right, beat Captain Marvel, don’t use fire. Um…” Johnny Storm stops for a moment trying to think it through.
“Just keep her busy a minute, I maybe got an idea” The Thing trots over the Invisible Woman. “I know you’re busy Suzie Q, so how about you send that sucker my way?
“I wish I had that much control over it.” The Invisible Woman strains under the constant push of the Blue Marvel.
“Okay, okay, just keep him busy a minute, I maybe got another idea.” The Thing trots back to the Human Torch
“So?” Johnny asks, I need you to flame up and try ‘n get the blue guy ta come crashin’ down on your sister. But ya got to make it look like you’re gunnin’ for Carol.” The Thing points sky high as Captain Marvel arrives.
“I think I see what’s going on here. Oh and Ben, I think we both know the the catch phrase is FLAME ON!” He takes to the skies and launches a soft fireball, tagging Captain Marvel. She darts after him unleashing a photonic bursts. Torch dodges around them, allow Captain Marvel to play a game of cat and mouse.
The Thing walks back over to the Invisible Woman, “Make me invisible too, just for a sec.”
“Don’t know if can manage that right now Ben.” The Invisible Woman grunts, “And Johnny is getting pretty close to hitting my force fields dancing around up there.”
“That’s the idea Suze.” The Thing puts a comforting hand on her shoulder.
“The hit might be too much and break the force field… I get it.”
“You get it.”
A fireball hits the shielding as the Blue Marvel barrels around, he breaks free from his prison and forces down to attack his invisible captor without realising that she’s not alone. As the Blue Marvel streaks down into the Invisible construct, he’s surprised by the all too familiar battle cry, “It’s Clobberin’ Time!” As the Thing’s collision of the Thing’s fist and Blue Marvel’s face at super speed.
The Blue Marvel collapses to the ground moaning. The Thing reappears shaking his fist. “Well daggumit, that actually kinda hurt me too.” He stomps over to the fallen hero and kicks him over. “You getting back up?”
The Blue Marvel groans, his hands glow and he tries to reach his face.
“Can’t have that.” The Thing hoists him up and and punches him again. “Ya know, for a smart guy, you should know when you’re licked.” The Blue Marvel collapses to his knees, still trying to heal himself..
“Hey now! You can’t just forget about me!” Ms America charges back in.
“Oh I didn’t!” The Thing points up. Ms America’s eyes follow, and she see the Human Torch soaring overhead, firebombing her.
“Hey, no fair how do I get up there? Where’s Captain Marvel?”
“You don’t, and she’s busy.” The Thing points over to the Captain Marvel bouncing around inside of an invisible Force Field, the Invisible Woman raises off of the ground and pushes the field, knocking Captain Marvel around.
Captain Marvel lets out a giant burst of energy rupturing the Invisible Woman’s force field. “Enough of this Sue. If I can break through this easily, I know you’re spent. Just give up here, and I’ll be gentle with the rest of your family.”
“We’ll never give up Carol, never, you know that.” Sue replies, cooly.
“It was very impressive, how you all teamed up and got to the Blue Marvel, but you’re spent. There’s no way the your brother can hurt me, Eventually we can overpower Ben. Who knows what you have to do to officially beat us as long as Galactus is still standing, and T’Challa is taking care of Reed right now.” As if on cue, Reed come stretching past at the exact moment of Captain Marvel’s reasoning.
“Don’t mind me ladies, I just need to borrow Ben here for a minute.” His plastic arm wraps around the bruiser and lifts him to the top of Galactus.
“Good seein’ ya, you bum. While I’m down here doin’ all a the work.” Ben gruffly puts out. “How’d you ditch the Black Panther?”
“Actually,” Mister Fantastic winces in pain and looks back, seeing the Black Panther crawling down his back. “Trust me Ben, you’ll know what to do! He leaps off of the cosmic force, carrying the Black Panther with him.
The Thing looks out and sees H.E.R.B.I.E. strangely attached to Galactus’s head with a couple of buttons and levers protruding. “What do we have here?” The Thing grabs a lever, and Galactus’s arm moves forward. “Sweet Aunt Petunia, I’m piloting Galactus!”
Two titanic hands reach out, one grabbing the Black Panther, and one grabbing Captain Marvel. They struggle to break free, but the might of Galactus is too much. Ms. America is trapped on the ground in a cage of flaming plasma. Ben taps the large red button button in the center of the H.E.R.B.I.E. control console.
A booming voice protrudes from Galactus’s mouth. “We surrender.”
