Fantastic Four (1): Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, Thing, H.E.R.B.I.E.
Asgardians (2): Fandral the Fair, Hogun the Horrible, Volstagg the Voluminous, Thor, Lady Sif
“The Fantastic Four? I thought we had proven ourselves more than worthy combatants!” Thor complains.
“I know these warriors, they are not going to be easily quelled.” Hogun adds.
“For glory, for each other, for all for asgard, TO BATTLE!” Sif raises her sword and charges ahead.
“Now we get to just charge in?” Fandral jokes as he takes off behind her. Volstagg laughs and trots behind.
“Looks like they’re coming straight at us.” The Thing is first to point out.
“They’re all seasoned warriors with seraphic strength, the Asgardians know they can’t give us time to formulate a plan.” Reed offers quickly.
“I have to fight Thor, don’t I? I’m on Thor duty. I hate you guys.” The Human Torch rambles, “I guess superhero has to do what a superhero has to do, FLAME ON!” He takes to the sky just in time to luckily avoid the hammer careening towards him. “Close one!” He looks at the now hammerless Thor and rockets out a torrent of flame.
“You forget Mjolnir’s greatest strength, friend Storm!” The hammer circles back on the Torch, luckily, Thor’s warning gives him enough chance to dodge again. The Human Torch circles around encases the Asgardian warriors in a circle of fire.
“I don’t think that fire will hold them off for long… or maybe at all, but I don’t think that they can see through it!” Johnny Storm calls down to his teammates
The Fantastic Four prepare themselves. Sif is the first through. As she charges, the Invisible Woman traps her in a force field and yanks her away. The Thing balls a fist and steps up he readies himself and knowing his opponent, puts everything that he has into his attack as Fandral dashes across next. He’s immediately met with a titanic punch to the face, enough to hurt even a god, surprisingly, enough to knock him out. Hogun sees Fandral fly back and blindly pushes through the fire as the Thing is still fully extended, knocking him in the shoulder, he jumps through and continues battering him with his mace. As Volstagg gingerly tip toes through, Mister Fantastic extends his arms around the god’s ankles and trips him up. He lands with a thud on the ground.
“This is not the smoothest start to our battle,” Volstagg states bluntly, from the ground, “but not the worst!”
“Aye!” Thor catches Mjolnir and rises above the fire. He twirls it around and follows it towards the Human Torch
“Aye yai yai…” The Human Torch worries, he pushes out as much meat as he can at the Asgardian god of thunder, attempting to slow him down. Thor pushes through as if it were nothing and the Human Torch just barely spins out of the way. “I think I’m going to need a hand here guy!”
“Guys?” The Invisible Woman looks up and see Thor rocketing back at her brother’s back. He slams to a halt a few inches from his target.
“Sorry sis, thanks for the save! I’ll go check on Sif?” He races off land finds Sif, out of her force field, and rushing back to battle. He forms fireballs and rains them down round her.
“Fire? You think mere flame could possibly fell Sif the Unstoppable!” She jumps into the air.
“I thought that was Juggernaut’s line!” He jokes as he darts away from the attack. Calling down again, “I don’t know how much good I’m going to be, none of them really seem to mind the heat, but I don’t think that any of them can keep up me either!”
The simple observation sparks something in the incredible mind of Mister Fantastic and as he dances around Volstagg expertly wielded broadsword, bending to and fro, annoying the god, he reaches back to H.E.R.B.I.E. and begins silently inputting a command. He looks up, “That’s great John, keep Thor distracted!”
“I’m fighting Sif now! Tell Sue!” Torch holler back.
“Good job, thank you, I’m sure that we can have Sue help with thor once she’s done with Sif.” Reed absently responds, one hand talking to his robot, the other prodding at Volstagg to keep himself the focus of attack.
Sif lands quietly, hearing the exchange of the two members of the Fantastic Four, she charges into Mister Fantastic. She stabs him in the gut, and almost reflexively, the sword pushes into him, not through. Reed’s hand snaps back from H.E.R.B.I.E. like a slingshot and slaps Volstagg across the face.
More embarrassed than damaged, the two Asgardian warriors team up stabbing at and slashing Mister Fantastic, their convention means of fighting do little damage to his malleable form, but he keeps them occupied all the same.
Reed calls over to his best friend, “How’s it going with Hogun?”
“Not bad”, Hogun’s mace cracks against the Thing’s rocky chest as Hogun attempts to charge the tide of battle. The Thing grabs the mace and wrestles it away, he tosses t over his shoulder and begins punching. It takes more than one, but as he finishes, he dusts his hands off and looks back at Reed Richards. “Just finishing up.”
“Excellent, I have a special task for you, find H.E.R.B.I.E. and he can fill you in.” Mister Fantastic suggests.
“The machination! Volstagg, destroy it!” Sif commands.
“Aye!” Volstagg peels off his assault on Mister Fantastic hoping to have better luck.
“Oh no you don’t!” The Thing jumps in and tussles with the mountain of a god. H.E.R.B.I.E. jets off softly behind them, Volstagg futily reaches out as the Thing wraps his arms around Volstagg’s enormous side and slams him into the ground. “I gotta do everything around here.” He mutters to himself watching the robot float up to Thor.
“This defense will not hold me!” Thor shout, smashing his hammer into the invisible force field. The field holds, but cracks, none can see it, but Sue feels the surface tension disrupted. Thor punches out, and the construct shatters, he feels it give way and zooms to the ground. He stands tall in front of the Invisible Woman, sparking electric around him, blonde hair flowing in the wind.
“Lucky for me they don’t run out.” Visibly hurt from the first shield smashing, though showing her confidence, she put up a series of invisible walls between herself and Thor. Thor takes one step and hits a wall. He bashes it with his hammer, it cracks. He strikes again, it falls. He takes another step, another wall. He hits it once with Mjolnir, a clap of thunder explodes around the construct, but the wall hold, just barely. It is weakened enough that he steps forward, and feels the wall shattering around him. He steps into another wall and pulls back the hammer yet again. With a ball of lighting and a clash of the hammer, the wall falls.
“You cannot compare your cosmic mutations the might of Thor.” Thor tries to reason.
“And you cannot compare your might to strength of the Fantastic Four!” the Invisible Woman puts up another series of walls. As Thor shatters two more, she drops to a knee, as he pushes through a third, blood starts to drip from her nose, the mental concentration and force of will taking it’s toll.
Thor stops his assault just short of the Invisible Woman as Volstagg come flying through the air and lands at his feet, separating him from his target. He looks up and see the Thing stretching his back.
“Tha Islanders call that one a hat trick! And now I’m coming for you Goldilocks!” The Thing marches towards the god of thunder.
Thor ignores the Things raises hammer, he takes to the sky and rockets Mjolnir at the Invisible Woman. She protects herself with a force field, but all of the strain, all of the force fields broken, the impact is felt. The Invisible Woman collapses, without contact and the hammer returns to its master’s hand.
“SUE!” The Human Torch screams. As he turns to help his sister, Sif takes the opportunity to throw her sword, catching him off guard, he’s unable to dodge. His heat softens the metal enough that it doesn’t kill him, but it does cause him to fall the the ground.
Sif takes full advantage of the opportunity and dives towards him, grabbing his neck, she lifts him up and throws him into the ground. ‘
Sif rushes to Thor’s side to confront the Thing and Mister Fantastic. She remembers her difficulty with Mister Fantastic and suggests Thor take him down. A bolt of lightning rages from the air and strikes the elastic leader of the Fantastic Four. He seizes up and Thor hits him the face with Mjolnir. His read rockets away from his body as his neck stretches thing. The electric still coursing through his body prevents Mister Fantastic from absorbing the blow with the efficacy he normally could. And the Thing stands alone.
“Jus old Ben Grimm, the ever lovin’ blue eyed Thing, against all odds, jus’ like back on Yancy street.” The Thing pantomimes rolling up his sleeves as he continues his march just before Sif strikes out at him with her sword. But it stops just short of its target.
“It’s going to take more than that to keep me down!” The Invisible Woman crawls up and begins walking towards Sif.
“How?” Thor questions, “It matter not, for as many shields you can muster, Thor can mage one more strike of Mjolnir!” Thor boasts. He prepares to charge when his belt slips off of his waist, he walks a step past and looks down, immediately feeling the loss of power. “Megingjord!” Thor whispers as H.E.R.B.I.E. zips away with the belt and presents it to the Thing.
“So this was egghead’s plan, huh?” The thing reaches out, but Thor wastes no time, he lifts Mjolnir and the thunder and lightning erupt onto the Thing.
“I’m made out of rocks buddy,” The Thing jokes as the Lady Sif flies off behind him, getting battered into the ground by the Invisible Woman. The Thing wraps the belt around his waist and feel the Odin Force flow through him. Thor storms towards the Things and bashes him across the crown of his head with mighty Mjolnir. Without his enchanted girdle, Thor’s strength is virtually halved
Ben Grimm cracks his craggy knuckles, “Oh yeah, it’s clobberin’ time.” He punches Thor with all of his gargantuan strength matches by the magical enchantment around his waist, fuelled by the near limitless power of the Odin Force.
Thor collapses to his hands and knees, dripping with blood. “I have failed you,” he quietly prays to his father, “Thor was not the worthy today.
Ben Grimm’s fist comes crashing down again.
